Teacher’s Corner
Welcome to Teacher’s Corner:
Hi All, I am an educator who has been teaching for 18 years and I currently teach high school students in courses such as World History (Gifted and Accelerated), AP World History, AP Psychology, and occasionally AP Human Geography.
My Path to Education
I began my career in the human services field, working with programs that supported teen pregnancy services, the Red Cross displacement program, and GED preparation for previously incarcerated teens.
Over time, I experienced burnout connected to recidivism and the barriers many individuals face in rebuilding their lives. That experience led me to education, where I felt I could make a more direct impact by supporting learners earlier in their journey.
How I Teach
In my classroom, I focus on both academic content and essential learning skills. I help students strengthen how they process, organize, and apply information so they can become more confident, independent learners.
My goal is to equip students with practical, transferable skills that support success across courses and extend into college, career, and everyday life.
What Matters Most
I am most passionate about helping learners who enter with skill gaps leave with tools, strategies, and confidence.
When students understand how they learn, they are better able to adapt, meet challenges, and build long-term success.
Teaching Today
Teaching today requires flexibility, reflection, and continuous growth. With virtual learning, evolving technology, and competing demands on attention, educators are constantly adapting.
I approach this work with a mindset of adjustment and improvement so that my students and I can grow together.
At the Core
At its core, my work is about more than content. It is about helping learners build self-awareness, confidence, and ownership of their growth so they can step into their full potential.
