Are you a Hip-Hop head? The recent rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has called all of our attentions to the manganous phenomenon that is rap and Hip-Hop Culture.  Everybody and their momma are reacting, commenting, theorizing and creating think pieces about this cultural event surrounding rapping, rhyming and emceeing that was born out of disparity, poverty and self-expression in the Black Community. Including me! LOL! Now, if you are a connoisseur of knowledge and want to partake in the major dialogue going on about Hip-Hop Culture and the recent rap beef, you now have to opportunity to dive into the history of Hip-Hop and up your knowledge about this pop culture event; and if and when you do decide to engage, you can do so with knowledge as well as passion. Below is a list of documentaries and interviews that tap into Hip-Hop’s origin story. Afterwards you can check out my “What’s the Beef? Kendrick Lamar v. Drake” post and dive into all the rap disses as well as reactions, reviews and analysis for each song. After emerging yourself in the historical background of rap and Hip Hop, you will be well versed in the topic and should be able to passionately argue for your fave, based on the ‘real-real’ criteria and not what going on out here today in these rap dialogue streets; Lol!
